To Whom It May Concern:
It was August 8th, 1993 that I was involved in an auto accident. My wife was killed and I was injured pretty badly. After about two months I was still limping badly and I got in touch with J.R.Smith and explained my problem. At the time, I was the executive vice president of Southern Belle Dairy and my duties required that I tour the plant on a daily basis, which involved going up and down many steps. J.R. started me out gradually and got me back to a normal lifestyle and activity within a few months.
I continued to workout with J.R. when one day in July of 1994, I mentioned that I was getting short of breath when exercising. He suggested I see my family physician, which I did immediately. Within a month I had five bypasses and a pacemaker inserted, not to mention the incision from my ankle to my hip bone.
Walking at this time was difficult. I once again was limping around the walking track but J.R. gradually started me back on the weights to strengthen the sternum bone and build up my endurance. J.R. kept his eye on me at all times while training me and continued to encourage me every step of the way. At the time, Somerset nor any of the surrounding communities had a cardiac rehab center, so my cardiologist called J.R. and together they developed a rehab program for me to which I credit giving me back my life.
Now some 12 years later, I’m in great shape and health for a guy 79 years young, happily remarried and I still exercise. At the present time, my workout looks like this:
Leg press: 20 reps with 360 lbs; leg extensions: 20 reps with 70lbs; leg curls: 20 reps at 70lbs; Lat pulldowns: 20 reps with 80lbs; Hyperextension bench: bodyweight for 20 reps; decline chest press: 20 reps with 140 lbs; Crunches with medicine ball: 20 reps with 12lbs ball.
I would recommend J.R. as he is knowledgeable, compassionate and communicates very well with others including physicians.

To whom it may Concern,
I am writing to extend my personal letter of recommendation for J.R. Smith. During the past two years, I have had the privilege of working with J.R. as he became a valuable asset to our strength and condition program as our strength and conditioning coach for the Men’s Basketball team at Somerset High School.
Through the past two years I have witnessed an increase in athletic performance, injury prevention and rehab of injuries directly correlated to the training and knowledge that J.R. has taught our athletes and coaches. J.R. posses the knowledge and experience that makes him an effective strength coach, motivator, and mentor for our men in the weight room. Not only does J.R. teach the men skills in the weight room, but due to his own drive, determination, and hard work ethic, our boys have picked up on this and have shown a visible change in their attitudes in practice and in their attitudes in the classroom.
It is my belief that J.R. would be an asset for anyone or business that is looking for total body improvement, improvement in health of their clients, or information or advice about weight lifting and training.
I have only seen positives coming from J.R.’s training and working with my athletes, and am in full belief of what J.R. has done for my program and what he is capable of doing for other. This is why; I again, extend my personal recommendation for J.R. Smith.

To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing this letter in recommendation of J. R. Smith. As the Health Ministries Coordinator at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, I have a great interest in health and wellness in body, mind and spirit.
J. R. also has a calling to minister to people by promoting healthy lifestyle choices and personalized fitness programs. He has many years of experience and special training in a broad area of expertise.
J. R. was the previous owner and fitness director of BioFit where my husband and I benefited from his personal attention designing a workout specific to our needs and limitations. This was much appreciated and more helpful than the “one program fits all” mentality of so many facilities.
I feel that J. R. Smith is highly qualified to design and implement a fitness program for your business that would be individually and corporately effective.
Sincerely,
Diane Kiser, RN, MSN

To Whom It May Concern:
This letter is being offered on behalf of J.R. Smith, as a testimonial to his capability in the area of Fitness and Personal Training. I personally owe my current state of well-being to J.R., and have appreciated his expertise, professionalism, and friendship over the past 5 years.
I am a busy General Surgeon, with terrible hours, and a very time-consuming and physically demanding hobby of riding horses (specifically Show Hunters and Jumpers). Unfortunately I fractured my humerus while riding about 6 years ago. My recovery from that was quite prolonged. Following surgery, and then Physical Therapy I became quite frustrated when, after several months, I still had not regained much more than about 25% usefulness of that arm. My husband, who had been a regular member of J.R.’s Biofit gym, referred me to JR. J.R. designed a program for me that, over the course of the next 3 months, not only rehabbed my arm back to essentially full function and strength, but also got me very excited about my fitness in general. It became very clear to me that J.R. is proficient in anatomy and exercise physiology, as well as nutrition and physical fitness.
I became an enthusiastic “regular” at Biofit. J.R. created and maintained a very friendly, low-keyed but serious atmosphere at his gym. The gym was nicely decorated, well lit, and clean. The clientele were heavily skewed toward middle age and beyond, and many of us were busy professionals. There developed amongst us a camaraderie that was unique, in my experience. J.R.’s friendliness, his constant personal interaction, and wonderful sense of humor really kept me looking forward to fitting my work out into my busy days.
J.R.’s talent really lies in assisting busy professionals attain and maintain fitness. He is extremely intelligent and well educated in his field. He interacts very well with people from all walks of life. He is dedicated to health and fitness as a way of life. He is quite accommodating and generous with his time. I recommend him to anyone looking to improve his or her health and well-being.

To Whom It May Concern:
I have been a practicing periodontist in the south central area for 15 years. I first started working with J.R. Smith in 1992. I had never exercised and found my busy schedule and high stress made me prone to overeating, backaches and frequent colds.
Since working with J.R. and learning his principles of eating, exercise, and discipline, I feel I have reached a level of balance between my work, family, and personal life that was achieved through the motivation and knowledge of J.R. Smith. I’m now a 42-year old mother of two children (the youngest is 22 months old) working full time, and staying healthy and strong.
I would highly recommend J.R. Smith to help improve your company’s personal performance.
With kindest personal regards,
Susan Ballou Gibson, DMD, MSD

To whom it may concern,
Several years ago I was out of shape and badly overweight. I tried many diets and exercise programs and I failed at all of them. I heard some people talking about how they were losing weight and I asked how. They referred me to J.R. Smith at BioFit Exercise. I started out at 30% body fat and no energy. I twelve short weeks I was down to 12% body fat and had a plan that I could use everyday of my life. This gave me confidence and improved every area of my life.
In 2004, I took my 16 year old son to J.R. to make Eric stronger and faster as a high school cross country athlete. At the time his best 400 meter run was 60 seconds. After working with JR, Eric’s body transformed into a ripped hard athletic body specifically developed for his sport. He improved his 400 meter time to 52 seconds and made the state KHSAA Championships.
J.R. has been a tremendous help to me and my entire family. I have all the confidence in his knowledge and ability. He is the first person I go to for any fitness or sports & strength training advice. In my opinion, he is the best.
Thank you,
Teddy Wilson
